On Tuesday, April 24, the Speakers' Bureau presented to AmeriCorps VISTA members at Greater Homewood Community Corporation. These dedicated volunteers are working to combat poverty in so many different ways including community organizing, community greening, school improvement and adult education, and it was a privilege to share the stories of our speakers.
Our speakers shared stories of addiction, HIV, incarceration and the struggles associated with homelessness, but they also offered a message of hope and action for ways to improve the systems that perpetuate homelessness.
